Shrink Fitting
Shrink fitting of mating parts is done where the use of keyways or fasteners may not be practical or desirable.
One of the parts is heated by induction, thus providing thermal expansion, for introducing the mating part into the heated part. The heated part shrinks over the mating part on cooling.
Some examples are:
fitting of rotors over shafts
compressor shells over the motor stators
axle housing extensions into axle beam bodies
starter rings over flywheels
Close control over temperature yields controlled thermal expansion.
Automatic handling of the mating parts ensures and consistent process results.
GH India supply the required automation and control appropriate to the jobs.
