Seam annealing

These are integrated in a tube mill following the welding stage, for continuous annealing of the weld seam which might have acquired hardness during the welding and cooling by water.

The induction coil is designed to couple with a narrow width on either side of the seam, and heat the desired section of the tube uniformly to the required temperature. The length of the induction coil will depend upon the production speed - higher the production, greater the length.

For high-power installations the coil will be split into sections for convenience of adjustment and maintenance.

The package consists of a MF induction generator, a heat station to match the impedance, a fixture for lowering the coil over the tube or to raise the coil clear of the tube.

The coil assembly rests over the tube on rollers to maintain the desired gap between the coil and the tube. This gap is adjustable. A PLC package provides the necessary controls and interlocks.

An infrared pyrometer monitors the exit temperature and controls the MF power appropriately.

An image sensing mechanism can also be provided to track the weld seam and make appropriate corrections to the orientation of the induction coil.
