Brazing applications for machine-tools, automobile and
electrical machinery
Tool brazing
Cutting tools for mining industry and for machine tools employ replaceable tips, of hard metals like tungsten carbide, brazed to appropriate steel holders. As the tips wear out, they may be de-brazed and new tips brazed in place.
The tool base and the inserts are held together with appropriate alloy and flux in place and the required locations are heated to the proper temperature. The equipment is simple and allows operation by semi-skilled personnel. It is well- suited for small batches.
Radiator brazing
The end connections of radiators (for the coolant, the air-conditioning) in automobiles are usually brazed by induction process. GH supply a pack of appropriate generator, the matching transformer, with the inductor directly mounted on the transformer.
Brazing of electrical conductors
In the manufacture of large power transformers and generators / motors, the copper connections may be brazed together by appropriate induction equipment. The induction generators are mobile and the power to the brazed joint is coupled by a hand-held package of matching transformer and induction coil (known as the induction torch). The heating is quick and localised, and a reliable joint is achieved without damage to neighbouring installation material.
